Red Initiative: Operations Desk
The Presidio
Greetings Command Officers,
Starfleet has reduced the clearance level all of all Red Initiative records except for those that may compromise or endanger our assets and resources. The Red Initiative is scheduled to close down its operations at Starfleet Academy and move all command functions to the field with Red Sqaudron’s High Command.
As several of Red Squadron’s Command officers are known to be special Starfleet operatives the disclosure of their identities is to be explained in the interests of overall Starfleet cohesion. This is particularly relevant due to the persistent rumors about the continued existence of Red Squad also known as Cadet Training Squadron 47. We are now able to disclose that such a unit has existed in continuous operation since the Domain Wars.
Red Squadron will continue to exist and carry out the missions of Starfleet but its members can now proudly wear its insignia and those who have served in its ranks can display their mission commendations.
In accordance with Regulation 191 (Article 14): The commanding officer of Red Squadron missions will always be the most capable command officer for the current scenario. Red Squadron formations will be in taskforces of five ships with each mission force designed as a self-contained tactical unit able to operate without fleet support if the mission requires.
At this time mission plans have been drawn for Red Squadron’s first overt deployment. Red Squadron is scheduled to spearhead Starfleet's efforts to secure a new deep-space stronghold for the Federation.
