Red Squadron BootCamp
Had the idea of a rite-of-passage for all new members entering the guild. I am not taking about having new members prove their worth by offering up a selection of items or in-game currency like a quest turn in, but have the new members prove they have a competency in:
-Basic ship to ship formation maneuvers
-Ship Combat
-Ship to ship engagements (Disarmament and Crippling)
-Multiple ship engagements (" ")
-Knowledge of guild Chain of Command
-Completed all required Testing (Written / Digital in the works by guild)
I know this may seem like a lot of work, but with some process streamlining, we product quality members every round of recruitment. And with this idea, I also volunteer as one the first Drill Instructors for the guild.

Re: Red Squadron BootCamp
that sounds like it could be workable. Make up some quistion/answers and run them by Admiral Butters, who has a Trek/Science test already made, or me (via P.M) and we will see about adding them to the test.

Re: Red Squadron BootCamp
Well then we will need some Instructors for the Academy. But might add let us master these first before we try to instruct others on doing so.

Masters you seek?
I have LOTS of thoughts on this but instead I would like to ask how many Fleet Members have read "The Art of War" ?
In my humble but extremely accurate opinion, this simple read provides almost all of the fundamental dynamics of warfare and simply guidelines on how to make them work for you.

Re: Red Squadron BootCamp
read the book and have implemented its ideals in most interviews/professional meetings one thing i've arranged/participated in for determining officer rank or command temperment in simming is a tactical RP. Basically create a situation involving evenly matched fleets, forces, or ships, and then ask players to submit a detailed report on how they would achieve a certain objective, like a simple kil mission, boarding, or assault, etc. Then those players who would like to demonstrate command capabilities (as a squadron leader, XO, flight leader) would have that opportunity. I think some players will be happy with one ship, operating as an individual, while others may want a 5-ship command to organize cooperative missions. Not everyone is cut out for small-group command, though I do have absolute faith in the decision making of our senior command officers The objectives at the top start broad, and then filter down to very specific tasks that squadrons do; in combination, these small tasks accomplish big things for the whole group (or Federation IG).
